Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and performer who began her career with smart raps that addressed gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. She then expanded to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Her birthplace was Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Koreans. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop education began when she was a teenager. When she was in college, she focused on her studies. She majored both in women's study and journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. My Vag, her song My Vag which was her reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick, became a popular viral sensation across the Internet and eventually appeared on her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also contained was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$1. The song was directly connected to Awkwafinas NYC, her travel guide for 2015. As a musician and an author in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on acting in a third project. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors to Storks. The actress made headlines in the year 2018, with several movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
